Description

As a Junior DevOps Engineer within Santam IT's IT4IT Team, you will play a critical support role across development environments (Guidewire, JDE, Microsoft, Java, etc.) to maintain infrastructure, DevSecOps practices, and application health. You will collaborate closely with architects, developers, and release managers to ensure robust system availability, automation, monitoring, and deployment practices. The position also offers a unique opportunity to engage in technical leadership within the IT Support landscape.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support for IT Support technologies, primarily based on Atlassian products
• Administer and maintain infrastructure, deployment processes, applications, and server environments
• Monitor software and hardware across environments and implement proactive maintenance
• Collaborate with architecture and technical teams to automate and optimize release and support processes
• Troubleshoot system and application issues and perform necessary maintenance activities
• Install software across environments, from operating systems to application layers
• Identify process bottlenecks and propose improvements to enhance platform reliability and efficiency
• Work with vendors and team leads to adopt new technologies and practices that enhance IT operations

Qualifications

• National Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or a related quantitative field
• 2–3 years of relevant experience in DevOps, system administration, or infrastructure support
• Proficient with both Windows and Red Hat Linux environments
• Working knowledge of Atlassian Data Center, clustering, and CI/CD tools
• Programming experience in Java and Python
• Familiarity with containerization tools such as Docker and Kubernetes
• Experience managing tools like Nexus, SonarQube, Bitbucket, and Bamboo
• Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS is a plus
